Here we are with our second Staff Profile – this time we’ve been asking Kelly Davies all about her role at the Langport office.

What is your role within Thomas Westcott?

I am currently studying to become a Chartered Certified Accountant. I have been attending Richard Huish College for the last 3 years (alongside working full-time) and I am due to sit my final exam in December this year. My workload varies from day-to-day, but my main responsibilities include: preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, preparing personal, partnership and corporation tax returns; preparing VAT returns, processing clients Payroll and submitting CIS returns. As well as accountancy work I also play a big part in assisting the Langport office with a lot of office paperwork and general admin.

How long have you been working here

I started working at Butterworth Jones (Thomas Westcott) in May 2012, not long after I moved to Somerset from my home town of Wolverhampton.

What do you like about working in the Langport office?

As the office is one of our smallest, it gives me the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the business. I am able to spend a lot of time with the clients and as I am the person they see when they visit the office I have managed to create some great relationships with them. Langport itself is a very peaceful village with some great scenery.

What do you get up to outside of work?

When I’m not at work or studying I love to travel and see new places. The last few years have been quite hectic so I’m hoping that next year, once I have qualified, I can explore the world a little bit more. I love to socialise with friends and family, I’m very much a people person.

Tell us a story that makes you smile?

When I got married, I had slippers on under my dress the whole day because my feet hurt that bad from the shoes I wore the night before, nobody knew!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you take with you?

I would take sun cream, a boat and a water purifier.

And finally, what do you like most about working for TW?

I love the variety of work I get involved in, the week’s fly by very quickly. The fact we have such great clients makes me want to come to work every day. The partners at Thomas Westcott are very open for staff to grow and experience new things, meaning that there is always a new challenge to push you further in your career. My colleagues also play a very big part of my experience here. I am very fortunate to work with such a varied bunch of people who all have expertise in different areas.

Thanks Kelly! We'll be profiling another member of our team next month.
