For the first profile of the new year we meet one of our rising stars from the Plymouth office, Trainee Chris Maddison.

What is your role within our firm?

I assist with the preparation of accounts and tax returns as well as providing bookkeeping services for clients. As a first point of contact, I also assist with client queries.

How long have you been working here?

I first started with the firm in July 2013. University wasn’t the right option for me as I had already decided what I wanted to do, so I started as soon as I left college.

What do you like about the Plymouth Office?

The people in the office are great; there is a wide age range with many people similar in age to myself so it's easy to socialise.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I recently purchased a house so a lot of my time is spent decorating. I enjoy skiing and am involved with the Soup Run in Plymouth, which helps to feed the homeless, because I hope that if I were ever in their position someone would do the same for me.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you take with you?

A fishing rod, sun cream and a towel – never forget the towel, because you never know when you will need a towel!

What do you like most about working here?

I enjoy the variety of work I experience at Thomas Westcott and how this improves my knowledge and skills. I also appreciate the support and assistance offered by other offices who are always willing to help whenever possible.

Thanks Chris, and some great towel advice there! If you'd like to get started in a career with Thomas Westcott like Chris, then visit our Current Vacancies page.
