We talk to our Axminster based Agricultural Consultant, and all-round rural man, Jack White this month....

What is your role within our firm?

I work in the Agricultural Services team providing business consultancy advice and support to farmers and landowners across the Southwest. Working with a number of businesses, I am involved in a variety of work including financial appraisals & projects, strategic business planning, diversification opportunities and many more.  I have a mixture of short time clients who I work with on specific projects and regular client with whom I have full involvement with the management of their farm business. I also work closely with a range of agricultural professionals, including bank managers, solicitors, land agents and accountants.

How long have you been working here?

I joined in Thomas Westcott in December 2015. I have a degree in Agriculture, land and farm management from Harper Adams University in Shropshire and previously worked as a farm manager in Somerset and spent five years with a large farm consultancy firm based in Cheshire.

What do you like about working in the Axminster office?

Whilst the majority of my work is done on the farm, having the Axminster office as my base is great. Everyone is friendly and happy to help each other. The office forms a key part of the Axminster community, which helps develop business and strengthens client relationships.

What do you do outside of work?

I love playing and watching any sport. I used to play rugby but not as much anymore. I do occasionally attend the gym and have taken part in a few triathlons. Outside of this, it’s farming and the rural way of life with many weekends spent on the family farm or taking part in a range of countryside sports on Exmoor.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take with you?

Matches, a knife and a rugby ball.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Sadly not!

What do you like most about working a TW?

I enjoy the variety of work and learning new skills. Although it is a big firm, Thomas Westcott still maintains a local, personal feel, which is a real asset. The business is always taking new opportunities and helping individuals progress in their careers.
