More than 200 people attended our recent Inheritance Tax and Pension Freedoms seminars, held at two prestigious venues in Somerset and Devon.
As well as hearing from Thomas Westcott Partners Andrew Brown and Sheldon Cole, who provided insights and answered questions about recent changes to inheritance tax and pensions, attendees were also treated to keynote speaker Justin Urquhart Stewart’s thoughts on the global economy and its impacts on consumer confidence.
The seminars took place at Batch Country House in Somerset and at Boringdon Hall Hotel in Devon and we were extremely pleased at the numbers of people who took time out of their schedules to come along and see us at these informal events.
Whilst the information presented was primarily aimed at business owners, professionals and senior executives aged 50 and over, we actually saw a much broader cross section of people, including under-50s and people already well into retirement – at our Somerset seminar we even had a visit from the Mayor of Weston-super-Mare!
According to our own financial planning experts, recent changes to the law regarding the taxation of pensions are the most radical pension reforms in a generation, changes which present exciting opportunities to provide much needed financial help to the next generation.
Recognising that such subjects can occasionally be dry we invited Justin Urquhart Stewart as our keynote speaker to add some extra energy into proceedings and, with his usual blend of incisive comment and razor-sharp wit, he didn’t disappoint!
Once again, many thanks to all those who found the time to come to our seminars to learn more about these important issues and we hope to see you at future Thomas Westcott speaker events.
