News & Blog

We meet one of our more recent appointments this month, Laura Tudor who joined our growing BRI team in August.

What is your role within Thomas Westcott?

I recently joined the Business Recovery and Insolvency team as an administrator. Essentially my role supports our Insolvency Practitioner, Jon Mitchell, in finding practical solutions for companies and individuals who are facing financial distress. We have a broad client base, spreading across many sectors in the Southwest.

Many assume that only when a company is on the verge of collapse, or an individual is bankrupt, is when we get involved. However, if the professional or individual identifies their financial position early and call us for advice, we can offer informal insolvency routes, voluntary arrangements, or even just a handhold.

What do you like about working in the Exeter Office?

Having not been here very long, I feel very welcomed and settled in. There have been opportunities to meet people outside of work, like being part of a recent 5K run team and the regular socials. I also think the location is great; perfect for walks at lunch time (or damaging my bank account shopping).

What do you get up to outside of work?

I enjoy being active and outdoors, so I either go climbing, run in the evenings or get lost on Dartmoor at the weekends. I also volunteer with a couple of local charitable organisations, which involves volunteer support work.

Now that the dark nights are drawing in, I think it is about time I start working through my ever-growing reading list too!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you take with you?

Solar powered iPhone with unlimited Spotify premium subscription, a kayak and a furnished beach hut –  is that cheating?!

Do you have any hidden talents?

That would be telling…

What do I enjoy most about working at Thomas Westcott?

What is most demonstrable is the client focused delivery of services. The practice as a whole has a diverse range of clients, and this is also true of Business Recovery and Insolvency. Thomas Westcott offers numerous training programmes and CPD courses/events which provides for professionals who are up to date on technical knowledge and are also commercial in their approach. What I enjoy the most is the flexible nature of insolvency meaning that you don’t know when the next job will be … and fortunately, our phone seems to be ringing a lot lately!

Thanks Laura, sounds like you're keeping busy then!
