Three of our team members are braving the January cold and spending a night sleeping under the stars in aid of South West homelessness charity Julian House.

Katrina Cheung, Vicky Hall and Cate Davey are taking part in the Big Exeter Sleep-Out, which takes place on 31st January at St James’ Park, home of Exeter City Football Club.

Equipped with only a sleeping bag and cardboard to sleep on, they will be joining others in raising awareness of the issue as well as funds for homeless people.

Audit Manager Katrina said: “I recently went to a networking event where a representative from Exeter Foodbank was speaking. I have been trying to find a suitable charity to support and I was really inspired by the talk. They don’t have any spaces for volunteers at the moment, so in the meantime I thought the sleep-out was a great opportunity to give something back.

“I have never been involved in a sleep-out before, and I am a little apprehensive about the weather, but it’s good that we will be doing it together.”

Trainee auditor Vicky was keen to get involved in the sleep-out, when it was suggested by Katrina.

She said: “I often go to the gym in the mornings before work, and I see a lot of homeless people about and it’s really heart-wrenching.

“I am looking forward to it – I think it will be an interesting experience and very eye-opening.”

Katrina, Vicky and Cate are aiming to raise £150 each, with all proceeds going to Julian House. Colleagues from across Thomas Westcott have already made donations to the charity, alongside their friends and family.
