It is with great regret that we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Charity Golf Day in aid of the South West Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Exeter, due to the restrictions caused by the global pandemic and the uncertainty of the next few months.  Thomas Westcott have supported the Centre for many years, with the Golf Day being the largest fundraising event of our year, raising over £6,700 in 2019 alone.

As with most events across the globe, the safety of our guests, staff and volunteers takes priority and it is with a heavy heart that we will be unable to raise anything near the significant amounts that we have raised for the Centre in previous years. The golf is just a part of the special event, with team games, raffle and quality auction prizes alongside a great social day out with breakfast and dinner included.

The MS Centre had to close their doors to all of their members for over two months during the lockdown, meaning they were unable to support people with MS and other neurological conditions with the popular oxygen therapy and neuro-physiotherapy.  It also meant that all fundraising events were cancelled and they have seen a dramatic fall in income as a result of the wide-reaching effects of COVID-19.  It costs over £185,000 to run the Centre annually so events like the Golf Day really contribute to the fundraising efforts of this small independent charity.

In lieu of the Golf Day event, Thomas Westcott feel we would still like to do what we can to help the Centre.  We would like to ask you to consider making a donation instead, an amount of your choice (the entry fee for the day was £55pp (excluding raffle and auction)), direct to the Centre, to help them continue the amazing work they do to help people across the South West manage their MS symptoms.  Even if you weren’t planning to come to the event you may like to join us in supporting the Centre with a one-off donation. You may send your donation via BACS, or through Virgin Money Giving.  For BACS payments, please consider completing the Gift Aid Declaration and emailing it to admin@southwestmscentre.co.uk so that they can claim 25% extra from your donation.

We will reschedule to 2021 and confirm details of that in the next few months.  In the meantime, we wish you all the best for the coming months, and hope to see you on the course in 2021.
