Thomas Westcott agricultural consultant Nikki Smale is celebrating being awarded a First Class Honours degree in Rural Business Management from the University of Plymouth.

Nikki is a member of our Agricultural Consultancy team, supporting farming clients in the local area and beyond. She has spent the last three years studying for the degree at Duchy College, alongside working from our Holsworthy office.

Nikki lives in the Holsworthy area, where she grew up. She joined Thomas Westcott in 2017 following a career in the British Army.

Nikki said: “After leaving the military I wanted to get back into agriculture. It was important to me to get new academic qualifications under my belt relating to this industry. The Rural Business Management degree was a great option because it is so relevant to my career.

“Studying aspects of business, such as livestock performance, strategic business management, marketing and environmental management, has given me a really broad understanding of the challenges farms and rural businesses face. This enables me to provide our agricultural clients with the most up to date knowledge, which will help me as I progress through my career.”

Peter Brown, Director and Head of our Agricultural Consultancy team, said: “All the team here at Thomas Westcott are delighted for Nikki on her outstanding, and very well deserved, achievement.

“Nikki is a highly valued member of our Agricultural Consultancy team and serves many clients throughout the South West. She provides a wealth of advice, from complying with the latest environmental rules and regulations to making efficiencies and applying for capital funding, in order to support farmers to move their businesses forward.”

Thomas Westcott’s Agricultural Consultancy team offers farming clients a broad range of financial and technical agricultural advice, from securing grant funding and investment to forage management.
